Libby is great for users new to eBooks and audiobooks, as well as users familiar with the OverDrive app who want to try a fresh experience. Why should you try it? Libby was built to get you reading as quickly and seamlessly as possible. To accomplish this, Libby was created from the ground up with user feedback in mind. Now you only need to enter your library card to dive in, and everything you need is one-tap away: your library, your latest read, and your shelf (where your Loans and Holds live).

4 Designed to be simpler Easier than ever to get started.
You just need a library card. No Adobe ID or registration needed. A ground-breaking eBook reader and audiobook player. Download and stream digital books. Highlight and take notes. No confusion around format choices. All loans and holds are on your Shelf. Consistent experience across devices. Libby was designed to be simpler, so it’s easier than ever to get started. You don’t need to create a secondary account to borrow eBooks and you can enjoy titles using OverDrive’s own eBook reader and audiobook player, also known as OverDrive Read and OverDrive Listen. You can download your digital books to enjoy on the go, or stream them to save space. You can also highlight passages and takes notes while you’re reading or listening. All of your loans and holds are automatically available on your shelf, and you don’t have to worry about deciding which format to use - your only option is to Open your eBook or audiobook. It doesn’t matter whether you’re using an iPhone, a Samsung Galaxy tablet, or a Windows computer, the experience will be the same.

5 Libby does more Set Preferences for browsing.
Manage Download Settings for titles. By default, all titles are downloaded for offline use on wi-fi. You can also choose to: Manually download larger titles. Download titles over cellular. Make Kindle your preferred way to read (available in the U.S. only). Automatically save library cards. Save multiple library cards. Sync your shelf across libraries. Libby also offers a host of features that help you customize your experience. You can tap the plus (+) sign on your library pages to configure preferences. There you can set what audience, formats, languages, and availability you’d like to see when browsing the site. To control how you’d like to enjoy titles, visit Download Settings or Device Preferences from the app menu. If you’re worried about using too much space on your device, you can opt to download only smaller titles. If data isn’t an issue, you can allow downloads over cellular. And If you prefer to enjoy titles on your Kindle, you can make Kindle your preferred way to download and enjoy eBooks. You can also add more than one library card to Libby. If you share a device with a family member, they can add their card, too, and switch to their card when borrowing or placing holds. You can also add cards for different libraries. Each time you add a card in Libby, it’s automatically saved to your device, so you don’t have to re-enter it.

6 Libby does even more Tags Tag titles you love, hate, or want to read.
Tag titles into custom lists, too. Activity Track reading history. Your timeline shows all titles borrowed, returned, and placed on hold. Also available as… Easily link to the other format. Reversed jackets Cover images flip to the right in search results when you borrow or place a hold. Libby does even more than that. Tags help organize the titles you want to read, but also the titles you liked and disliked. You can tag a title with a book icon, a thumbs up, or a thumbs down by tapping the Tag option on title details pages. You can even create your own tags, such as titles by your favorite author or Beach Reads, by tapping the plus sign (+) in the tag pop-up. All of your tags can be found on your Shelf. Your Shelf also hosts an Activity timeline. Now you can see a list of titles you’ve you borrowed, placed on hold, and returned. Please also rest assured that your tags and activity aren’t shared with the library or OverDrive; they’re just there for your convenience. You’ll see an “Also available as…” link on title details pages when titles are available as both eBooks and audiobooks. This can help you explore other format options, and maybe even help you get the book faster, if one format has a shorter wait list. You’ll also notice that Libby flips the cover images for borrowed titles, so it’s always clear what books are and aren’t new to you.
