3 Global Hunger Today the world is facing a hunger crisis unlike anything it has seen in more than 50 years. 925 million people are hungry. One of the United Nations goals is to reduce proportion of hungry people in the world.

4 Extra energy is needed during pregnancy and lactation.
There are different terms of hunger that United Nations uses to make measure global hunger: 1- Under-nourishment : This term used to describe the status of people whose food intake doesn’t include calories (energy). The energy and protein that people need vary according to age, sex, body size, physical activity and climate. Extra energy is needed during pregnancy and lactation. Malnourished person finds that their body has difficulty doing normal things such as growing and resisting disease. Physical work becomes problematic and even learning abilities can be diminished. According to Malnourished Women, her pregnancy becomes risky, and her breast milk could not be nourished enough.

2- Malnutrition: Mal is a prefix that implies bad. What is Malnutrition? Malnutrition is a term that refers to lack of proper nutrients. Malnutrition develops when the body doesn’t get the right amount of vitamins. Malnutrition is not just deficiency but also an excess of nutrients or vitamins in the body. According to The World Health Organization, deficiencies of iron, vitamin A, and Zinc rank among the top ten leading causes of death through disease in developing countries.

6 Most of the world’s hungry people live in developing countries.
Malnutrition is measured not by how much food is eaten but by physical measurement of the body- weight or height -and age. Starved of the right nutrition, people will die from common infections like measles or diarrhea. Most of the world’s hungry people live in developing countries. According to the latest food and agricultural organization (FAO) statistics, there are 925 million hungry people in the world. 98% of those hungry people are in developing countries.

7 75% of the poor and hungry people in the world live in rural areas where people dependent only on agricultural for their livelihood. Over dependent on agricultural for their food make people have no alternative source of income or employment.

8 Hunger Causes and Solutions
According to the world health organization, hunger and malnutrition are the number one risk to the health worldwide. The reasons of hunger are poverty, natural disasters, war conflict, poor agricultural infrastructure and over-exploitation of the environment. Recently, financial and economic crisis have pushed more people into hunger. The main cause of hunger in the world rooted in poverty. Millions of people earning low wages struggle to put healthy food on their tables to feed their children to meet their health needs.

9 In the developing countries, more than 1
In the developing countries, more than 1.4 billion people currently live below the international poverty line, earnings less than 1.25 dollar per day. 1.02 billion People in the developing countries are undernourished, because they have problems obtaining adequate and nutritious food for themselves and their families. They consume less than the minimum amount of calories essential for health and growth. To manage food shortages and prevent famine death, the International Community has maintained geographic information , famine early warning systems and food reserves since 1970s.

10 The United Nations, the world food program (WFP), and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), ordinarily move food and other emergency care into affected zones to prevent starvation and suffering.
