2. Departure Transformation
Stansted transformation programme
Our transformation programme is focussed on 3 key areas that will deliver capacity, future-proof the operation and offer improved levels of service/products
Arrivals Building
The Arrivals Terminal is positioned between the current main terminal and the Radisson Blu hotel. This dedicated building for all arriving passengers will provide immigration, baggage reclaim, customs and baggage off load.
The building is designed over 3 levels with a gross floor area of approximately 35,000 m2.
Departure Transformation
The existing terminal will be transformed to a dedicated departure only building providing:
Shore line check-in with increased number of desks
Secondary security screening area
Expanded Departure Lounge including additional seating
Extended baggage facilities
Extended Remote Bussing Gate Facility
* Bold – we will shortly be engaging with UEG on this scheme
Airside
Upgrade to airside infrastructure to support an increase in peak hour movements and to support parking for based aircraft.

4 car parking schemes will create circa 8,000 additional spaces across the site

Includes both customer car parking and additional employee parking

Significant capacity enhancements across airport:
Construction of the Arrivals Building
Existing terminal building transformed into departures-only facility with: Additional Check-in capacity Second Security Screening Area Reconfigured Departure Lounge
Additional airside improvements will support more efficient use of the single runway. This work will commence following the completion of phase one.
The Committee will be engaged at the appropriate points during these works
