2 What is Biology? On a piece of notebook paper titled “Bellringer 8/24”
Write down and answer the following: Brainstorm what YOU think Biology is, giving examples of what you think we will be studying this year. Why do you think science and biology are important to know and learn?

3 How to take notes Leave a two- to three-inch margin on the left side of the page Use the left column to record key words, concepts or questions. Take notes in the wider, right side of the page. Keep Writing put an asterisk (*) or a question mark in the margin of the notes if you miss something or don’t understand it so you can get help on that item. If the instructor writes on the board or overhead write it down! Review the lecture notes IMMEDIATELY- that night! Then again the next night until you got it. Generate Questions If you can't think of a question for a section of notes, it means you don't understand or need more information on that section of notes.

7 HoMeWork Go over all papers with parents and sign and return them by 8/26 Get school supplies by 8/28 Write a one page “about me” and include a photo. (if you don’t have a printer me or draw yourself) Tell me anything about your life… what you’ve done, what you hope to do, your dreams, fears, etc.

10 Which is the correct way to begin and end class?
Hang out in the hallway until the bell rings, then walk into class and wait for the teacher’s signal that class started. Five minutes before class ends, pack up and wait by the door to leave. Be in seat when bell rings, then get up to get notebook and sharpen pencil before starting your bellringer. Leave when the bell rings Be in seat when the bell rings, already prepared with sharpened pencil or pen and notebook writing down the bellringer. Backpacks are to be off the desks at all times. The last few minutes of class is time for you to complete your comprehension check answer in your notebook. Leave when teacher dismisses you. There is no procedure for starting or ending class, just go with the flow and wait for assistance. c

14 What is the Leesburg High APP cell phone policy?
Cell phones are permitted on campus and can be used during class at any time. Cell phones are permitted on campus; however, must be OFF and out of SIGHT during ALL class time and will be confiscated and given to grade level administration if seen or being used. Cell phones are permitted on campus; however must be on vibrate mode and can be used at the end of class. LHS has a cell phone policy?
