2 General Guidelines The source information required in a parenthetical citation depends on: Source (Print, Web, DVD) Source’s entry in the Works Cited Any in-text citation you provide must coincide with the information on your Works Cited page 1st word used for in-text citation should be 1st word used in the Works Cited reference

3 Author-Page Style Author, then page # should be in parenthesis
Exception: If you state author’s name in sentence prior to parenthesis, page number alone will suffice Wordsworth stated that Romantic poetry was marked by a "spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings" (263). 4 WWW Guidelines Include in the text the first item that wil appear for the source in the Works Cited You do not need to give paragraph numbers of page numbers based on your “Print Preview” function Do not include URL’s in-text, only provide partial URL’s

5 WWW If there is no author on the website, use an abbreviated title of the website in the parenthesis. The Gerber Baby Food company notes that for the first three to five days of breast feeding, a woman's body "will produce a substance called colostrum. This thick, yellowy substance is a milk rich in antibodies . . ." ("Newborn Feeding").

6 Quotations Short Quote: fewer than four typed lines
According to some, dreams express "profound aspects of personality" (Foulkes 184), though others disagree. According to Foulkes's study, dreams may express "profound aspects of personality" (184).

7 Quotations Long Quote: more than four typed lines
Place quote in free-standing block of text and omit the quotation marks Start quotation on a new line Indent entire quotation 1” Maintain double spacing
