According to ASCA (2005), “School counselors manage the school counseling program and ensure effective strategies are employed to meet stated student success and achievement. The school counselor provides proactive leadership, which engages all stakeholders in the delivery of activities and services to help students achieve success in school. 11 Create A Plan Using Data
Create a Counselor/Principal Management Agreement Using data (needs assessments, SIT meeting notes, advisory council feedback, test scores, discipline records, etc) create a yearly plan for what you want to do and how you are going to do it! Review the NC SC Evaluation Tool Understand what you know won’t change!

12 Schedule A Principal Meeting
Once you have prepped, request a meeting during a time when the principal is distraction free. Approach with an open mind and understand that you may have to comprise Be willing to make the best out of the situation Celebrate small steps, even if they are baby steps!
