Write down a minimum of 5 words/items that comes to mind (if you had to define it) when you hear the word Geography…….’The study of……. Share with your table partner and combine your list into one. Place each word on the sticky notes that the teacher will hand out to you. DO NOT LOOSE THESE

6 Recall: Geography – the study of the earth and all its features and systems and the relationship with humans. This is a very broad definition, we can break this down a little further.

7 Activity #1 Step #1 You will each be given a reading – these are NOT yours to keep, so don’t make any marks on them In your notebook – take jot notes of important information from your reading – remember to include the title. You have 4 minutes to complete this task

You will have 6 minutes to complete this task

Take the stack of words on the sticky notes from the other day that you have and sort these into the two types of geography – human and physical When you think you have them – pin each one up on the appropriate bulletin board/smart board You will have 5 minutes to complete this task

Just like knowing the weather outside in the morning will make us dress appropriately for the day, knowledge of geography can help us make even bigger decisions for our life and society. What do you think? In your notebook, write down the title at the top and list at least 3 ways the knowledge of geography could help you in your life.
