1 FAQ for OPA 1. Where can members access job postings for the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position? What is the application process for the APP position? ARTIC is encouraging LHINs to advertise their APP postings widely. This includes: Their own LHIN websites Online job search sites With participating organizations (i.e. hospitals or family health teams) With associations such as the OPA

FAQ for OPA 2. What education and experience is required for the Advanced Practice Provider position? APP – Hip and Knee Arthritis APP – Low Back Pain Practice Lead – Low Back Pain Educational Requirements Completion of an accredited, entry-to- practice program in a regulated health profession And Advanced formal education: Master’s degree OR Completion of a post-graduate musculoskeletal-related credentialing program Clinical Requirements Minimum 5 years clinical experience in musculoskeletal care Minimum 4 years clinical experience including: Minimum 1 year clinical experience in musculoskeletal-spine Membership Requirements Membership in applicable national/provincial professional association Member of related national/provincial professional association (preferred) Registration Requirements Registration in good standing with applicable regulatory body Registration in good standing with applicable professional/legislative college at the provincial level

3 FAQ for OPA 3. Is the residency a requirement for the APP position? The residency is not required to apply for the APP position; it is part of the initial training of successful candidates. 4. What does the three-month residency program for APPs look like? The residency is a combination of workplace learning with surgeon oversight/mentorship, self-directed learning, and online education supports. 5. Are providers from private practice clinics eligible for the APP role? The Rapid Access Clinics for Low Back Pain (ISAEC) includes the recruitment and hiring of APPs practicing in the community (e.g. private clinics, Family Health Teams, and Community Health Centres).

4 FAQ for OPA 6. How do we set up the APP and Rapid Access Clinic within a Family Health Team / Primary Care? Qualified providers can apply to the APP Low Back Pain job postings for their region. APPs may be hired with a part time portion of their case load dedicated to RAC patients. 7. How can members become an APP? Members who meet the educational requirements, were successful candidates for the position, and have successfully completed the residency may use the title APP in the RAC model of care. 8.
