Professional Experience Name :Brian Lavery Pathway : MEng Computer Science Placement : Capita Managed IT Solutions Position : Service Desk Analyst Role in the Company During my placement I worked as part of the GB education Service desk as a first and second line analyst. The services desk are a team of Capita who manage the IT support of BSF and E-act schools, in addition to independent academies. In addition i provided some support for other companies such as NSPCC and Strutt and Parker. The services we offered the schools: IT technical support Server management Co-ordination and scheduling for repair and replacement of hardware. My role in the service desk was as a technical analyst but due to a restructuring of the service desk at the time of my placement I was task some additional admin and management roles. My roles included: Provide IT and basic server support Organise rota for GB education team Create training documentation for GB education About the Company Skills Acquired Capita Managed IT Solutions provides cloud based and infrastructure services and solutions to public, private and third sector organisations and specialist managed services in the education, government, utilities and charities sectors. With regards to the education sector, We provide a full range of flexible IT services from design and maintenance of school's IT infrastructure to on-going support through our Service Desk, MY-SCHOOL cloud learning portal and range of ICT solutions. Our customers in education include area wide services, single schools, academies and Academy Trusts including E-ACT, ESSA Academy, Hugh Christie Technology College, C2K, Litherland High School and a number of BSF area services schools. Improved skills in customer interaction Experience in new technologies – Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange. Experience in network security software: e.g. Websense Triton and Bluecoat Systems.
