2. Education is for man-making and character building
Education is for man-making and character building. We expect our learners to acquire the skills and competencies to face the outside world confidently.
Back to basics focuses on the core concepts in each subject in Primary and Upper Primary.
The material prepared is to support the teacher with the purpose to ensure that processes in teaching are given due care.

3. Learning indicators have been well defined by NCERT
Learning indicators have been well defined by NCERT. Support materials to supplement the textbooks to keep a proper track of the direction of teaching learning process are there in the materials provided.
Each chapter , in all subject, has been arranged in a natural sequence.

4. STEPS
First, all concepts and learning indicators are identified. Next a few activities to complement the text and exemplify the concepts are dealt in. Later, a few items to test the child’s learning are included. After every 3-4 chapters there is a Learner’s Achievement Test based on the concepts attained in the previous chapters to test a child’s level of learning, remembering , understanding, applying, analysing, evaluating and creating.

5. Back to Basics will pave the way to achievement of learning outcomes.

6. The teachers in their desire to complete the syllabus have failed to emphasise the importance of basic competencies like recitations, dictations, dramatisation, story telling, mental Maths, memorisation or remembering as a study technique which can help children to assimilate and apply learning in real life situation.

7. We should encourage our students t ask questions and make choices or even express their opinions or thoughts which give perfect opportunities to learn and grow and become individual learners, creators, leaders and thinking individuals of tomorrow.

8. The materials provided have been prepared in such a way that the transition from one level to the next is smooth and seamless. Care has been taken to ensure integration of subjects wherever required.

9. Teachers should be encouraged to create their own activity cards on the basis of learning indicators.

10. Classrooms should be child centered and teachers should be facilitators. All students must get an opportunity to participate and perform individually in pair work, small group or whole class discussion. Students who do not participate or perform well should be identified and remedial measures should be planned for them.

11. Learning to know, learning to do, learning to live together and learning to be should be focussed in the teaching- learning process.

12. The activities in the form of worksheets have been designed to improve the language competencies of the students :
