2 Why are We Changing Website Hosting Again?
Edsite is being phased out due to mergers Our new hosting provides many benefits Login is now linked to our local network You will now login with the same username & password you use to login to computers here at the district Easier site creation Modernized website design, including responsive viewing Notification system included (training on that coming soon)

4 Quick Note on New Terminology
Navigation at top of sites - now called Channels Your website areas - now called Sections Your website has Pages – still called Pages Within your Pages, you have Apps Apps are your building blocks for your Pages

5 Let’s look at your Section Workspace Page
Site Manager is where you will edit your pages and apps within your “section”. A section is a collection of pages within a channel.

Log In: Go to our new website: Click Sign In Enter Username and password (it will match what you use to login to computers) Accept Blackboard Schoolwires terms of use (you only have to do this once) Click “User Options” and then “Site Manager”

Before you get started let’s look at creating a web page. You don’t need to create one at this time since we created a template with everything needed to complete your website requirements. web

15 Steps to Setup Your Website
Log In: Go to our new website: Click Sign In Enter Username and password (it will match what you use to login to computers) Accept Blackboard Schoolwires terms of use (you only have to do this once) Click “User Options” and then “Site Manager”

Click the Actions Button next to the name of your first page (HS & MS is “About w Schedule & Class Info” and EL is “Shared Site”) Choose Page Options. Rename your site (Mr. Jones’ Math Site, First Grade, John Smith, High School Drama, etc.) Save Click the Home button to get back to your section homepage

17 Steps to Setup Your Website
Click the title of you first page listed (the one you just renamed) Click the first App listed on your page (“About Teacher App”) Click the Options button and rename the App to your desired title (Mr. Jones’ Math Site, First Grade, John Smith, High School Drama, etc.) Save Fill in your info for the About Me tab and the Details tab Upload your picture and after upload resize if needed (we have most teacher pictures located here: \\krj\teacherpics) Click the Home button to get back to your section homepage

Click the title of you first page again Click the Schedule App Choose your table size (8 rows X 3 columns should work. Can change later) Enter your schedule Click the Set Table Options down arrow Choose a table style Save Click the Home button to get back to your section homepage

Click the title of your Syllabus page IF YOU ONLY HAVE One Syllabus (otherwise, you will do this in the “Course/Subject” page & can delete this page) Click the browse button to upload your syllabus Save Click the Home button to get back to your section homepage

Click the title of your Class Resources page Click the New File button Fill in the File Title field Type or paste in the document info OR scroll down and click the Select File button to upload a document Save Repeat for all documents you want to add Click the Home button to get back to your section homepage

Click the title of your Useful Links page Type in the Link Title Type in the web address to the link Repeat steps a & b for all links Click the Sort Links button to sort Click the Home button to get back to your section homepage

Click the title of your Assignments page Click the Categories tab Click the New Category button Enter as many Categories as desired Click the Assignments tab Click the New Assignment button On the General tab, enter the title, category, date assigned, and due date. On the Directions tab, enter any directions needed On the Post to Calendar tab Check off Post to Calendar Under Calendar, click the down arrow and choose Calendar App Under Calendar Category, choose a Category (NOTE: if you don’t see a category you want, let tech department know. New categories have to be added at the district level) Save Repeat steps for all assignments you want to add Click the Home button to get back to your section homepage

Click the title of your Calendar page If you want to link your calendar to a google calendar, click the Options button and enter your info Click the New Event button On the Event tab, fill in all the info and choose a category Fill out all other tabs as needed: Recurrence tab is for events that happen on more than one day Registration tab is if you want users to register for the event Location & Contact tabs are self-explanatory Post to Calendars tab lets you post to calendars at a higher level. These go up the chain for approval. Viewers tab lets you choose who can view the event Click the Home button to get back to your section homepage

24 Steps to Setup Your Website
Click the title of your Photo Gallery page Choose a Gallery Width ( you can change this later if you don’t have any photos uploaded) Click the Upload Photos button Click the Browse button to get your photo(s) Click Upload button When finished uploading photos, click the Sort button to sort When all done, you have to click the Publish button for them to be viewable on the website. If you need to adjust pictures, click on the Adjust Photo button next to the picture.
