2 What is RefWorks? web-based software that allows you to:
create and manage your own personal bibliographic database automatically format references in a chosen style, e.g. Harvard (British Standard) for use in a bibliography

3 Accessing RefWorks accessible from:
Library Online Resources > RefWorks MetaLib > Find database log-on using Athens username and password must register first before can use service

4 Storing your references
populating RefWorks typing in a reference searching databases and importing references directly using filters

5 Importing references directly

7 Managing your references
can sort references into folders can search for specific items select references and then create own bibliographies save / backup references export to other software such as Endnote Write ‘n’ Cite software

8 Editing records Depending on the quality of the original reference, you may want or need to edit your references, e.g.: To include date accessed for web addresses To make author or journal headings uniform To add descriptions or notes

used in conjunction with word allows you to insert references from RefWorks into your Word document download onto own PC ~ also on University lab models

Begin by writing your Word document and then placing your cursor where you need your in-text citation Open up Write ‘n’ Cite from the button in Word and select the reference you want to cite…

Click on Cite to add reference

Reference numbers ~ Ref ID ~ can be entered manually into text Simply enter Ref IDs into the text where appropriate, e.g. {{1234}}, save the text and format the text using RefWorks … see the following slides
