5 Targeted Outreach and Recruitment: Schedule A
The Schedule A Hiring Authority for people with disabilities (Schedule A) is an exception to the traditional hiring process. Schedule A streamlines the hiring process for persons with disabilities and, in some instances, hiring officials may select solely from a list of qualified Schedule A applicants. The Schedule A hiring authority simplifies the federal hiring process. Agencies can hire qualified Schedule A eligible applicants without posting or publicizing the job. How to apply: You can apply using Schedule A if you are a person with an intellectual disability, a severe physical disability, or a psychiatric disability. In order to be selected you will need to show that you meet the qualifications of the job (with or without reasonable accommodation). Contact the Disability Program Manager /Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist in JMC or federal agency of your interest. Note: Not all agencies have a Disability Program Manager (DPM) or Special Placement Program Coordinator (SPPC), so you may need to speak with the Human Resource (HR) Specialist identified on the vacancy announcement. You can also apply on USAJOBS.com website ( be sure to follow application procedures in the job posting) Must submit Proof of disability documentation from: your doctor, licensed medical professional, licensed rehab counselor, of any federal, state, DC or Us territory agency that issues disability benefits. (Documentation is only given to EEO and HR) Schedule A can also be used to hire sign language interpreters, reader’s etc Additional Info: POC: JMC EEO Office Or EEO office ( Disability Program Manager) at the federal agency you are interested in.
