3. What do Adverbs Describe?
An adverb is a word that modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
The suffix –ly usually indicates adverbs: happily, beautifully
Examples:
Adverb modifying a verb: The mother tenderly moved the pup.
Adverb modifying an adjective: A very kind woman helped me.
Adverb modifying another adverb: The males hunt extremely well.

Adverbs describe where something is, when something was done, how was it done, and to what extent it was done.

5. Find the Adverb!
Find the adverb that is modifying the underlined word.
A double layer of fur effectively covers a wolf.
The underfur grows very thick in the cold months.
An outer layer fully repels snow and water.
A wolf often lies near trees or rocks during a storm.
This location shelters it very effectively from wind.
