2. About Me Born October 1, 1999 (I am currently 17) From Wise
Currently a senior at Central High School

3. Quizbowl QuizBowl is my passion.
I have been involved in it since middle school and am currently a starter on my school’s team and plan on continuing doing it through college.
Our team has been successful; we won state my sophomore year and were the runner-ups my junior year while I was a starter.
I specialize in geography and history.

4. Theater
I first became involved in my school’s highly acclaimed theater department during my sophomore year.
I am a One Act team member and we have won state both years in a row and hopefully we can continue to do well.
I am also a member of the 9:00 Club (Central’s musical theater club) and my roles so far include Eugene in Grease and Robinson Ay in Mary Poppins.

5. Gaming
My biggest hobby outside of extracurricular activities is gaming.
I am primarily a Nintendo fan, especially Legend of Zelda.
I actually went as Link (main character from LOZ) for Character Day last year.

7. Max I really, really love dogs I have an adorable yorkie named Max.
He has an Instagram.

8. My favorite foods I really love food.
I especially love spicy stuff and/or meat.
*Pineapples never belong on pizza.

9. Geography One hidden talent I have is my vast geographic knowledge.
I can actually name every country that exists.
I even browse maps for fun.
This has helped in QuizBowl.

10. My Future
I am currently undecided about where I plan on attending college, but I do know that I plan on attending an in-state school with a GIS program.
I intend on majoring in GIS (Geographic Information Systems), which is pretty much digital mapping.
It is a quickly growing career field so hopefully I can get a good job.

11. CHS As mentioned previously, I am from Central.
I am currently a senior.
I am also going to be the warrior mascot for this year (the games haven’t started yet)

12. Memes
Another hobby that I love is browsing funny memes on the Internet.
My camera roll is full of memes.
I have a spam account on Instagram where I only post memes. The name of the account is Spam Basham

13. Miscellaneous Other random facts about me: My favorite color is blue.
I am very double-jointed and can completely dislocate my arms.
I am fatally allergic to peanuts.
My middle name is Jacob.
I am 6’2 ½
I can breakdance (though not that well)

16. Story
Two years ago, my sophomore year, my QuizBowl team overcame all odds and somehow won state. While we had a fairly successful season, we had certainly not expected to win state, especially because we were playing a powerhouse team that wins practically every year. However, we had some hope in ourselves and succeeded.

17. We had finished the regular season with an undefeated record and won conference and regions, but knew that state was a very different level. We studied and practiced very hard, but knew it would be a challenge. In fact, a teammate calculated our chances of winning at 3% based on records and statistics. At state, we won the first two matches and were surprised at how well they went. We knew that the final match would be a challenge, though. My brother was a starter at the time (I would be the next year), and I did not play during the championship, though I watched my brother play intently with both fear and confidence. During the first round, the other team buzzed in early and got some wrong, so we were able to steal and had a nearly-tied score. We tried even harder the other two rounds and somehow managed to win.

18. This surprising upset just shows that anything can happen if you try hard enough and have the right work ethic. Hopefully, I can help the team this year succeed like they did that year, though I am definitely going to have to work hard to succeed.
