Curtain Wall - Structural Glazing: Spider Clamps Ariana Kevelier Paul King Building Technology III

2 Definition of a clamp is a fastening device used to hold or secure objects tightly together to prevent movement or separation through the application of inward pressure. Norman Foster, Faber Willis – 1975 – Ipswich, Uk Benefits Unobtrusive, flush appearance Maximum transparency, it could meet even the toughest codes. SPIDERGLASS is a modern solution for exterior bolted glass assemblies, which secures the glazing to a support structure by means of point-fixings.

3 Installation process:
spider glass is a complete system for bolted glass structures. The complete package includes the glass, fixings, fasteners and SPIDER brackets for connection to the framework or structure. Design principles: The size of the supporting structure must be adequate to take the weight of the glass and the wind load conditions so it does not put any strain on the glass itself. The glass needs to withstand the wind loads and imposed dead loads. There must be a gap between the two panes of glass to avoid transmitting stresses and to allow space for the mastic weather seal. Various types of support structures are possible. Seal: Panes must be sealed using a silicone mastic applied to an extruded silicone seal The high-grade stainless steel fixings are designed to absorb all static and dynamic loads (the dead weight of the glass, wind loading, snow loads and differential expansion due to temperature difference) and distribute them to the support structure.

6 Metal Wall Panel

7 What Are IMPs? Insulated Metal Panels (IMPs) are lightweight composite exterior wall and roof panels with metal skins and an insulating foam core. These panels have superior insulating properties, and their outstanding spanning capabilities and one-pass installation makes them quick to install, saving costs compared to other wall assemblies. IMPs are available in a wide variety of colors, widths, profiles and finishes, enabling virtually any aesthetic desired for walls and roofs. Why Metal? Energy saving Longevity Reduced insurance premiums Virtually maintenance free Aesthetics Resale value Recyclable Myths Uncovered Lightning Noise Rust Dents Durability Getting an Estimate IMPS are offered in an unlimited palette of standard and custom colors to meet any aesthetic requirement, as well as energy-efficient solar reflectivity standards.

8 Insulated Metal Panels are considered the ultimate solution for climate-controlled facilities. Whether the need is for manufacturing, processing, storage, or distribution of perishable food or other materials, an IMP wall has the answer. Available in panel thicknesses from 3” to 6”, a wall can be designed to meet your specific thermal performance requirement. Additional features include – long spanning capability, flat and ribbed shaped panels, high performance coatings and special joint designs and details to meet safe hygiene and contamination requirements. IMPS serve as walls, ceilings, and roofs for commercial and industrial buildings, in new and retrofit construction..
