Thirlmere Aqueduct Gate (Grid Ref NY ). These are of the same style and enable access all the way along the Thirlmere Aqueduct. More information can be found at:

6. Bridge carrying the Thirlmere Aqueduct over Greenhead Ghylll near Grasmere (Grid Ref NY ). There are access gates at either end of the bridge.

7. Pipe bridge over the River Brock - water being carried in four parallel pipes at this point, taken 27th Feb Originally just one pipe constructed – then others added gradually over next thirty years or so.

8. Thirlmere Aqueduct
The Thirlmere Aqueduct is a series of pipes and tunnels which carries water from Thirlmere Reservoir in the Lake District (Cumbria) to the city of Manchester.
It was completed in 1894 after 8 years of construction. All of the water flows due to gravity despite the fact that the pipes sometimes go uphill (it does cut through the most mountainous terrain in England).
