4 Preliminary Secure Report Cards
They are both preliminary and secure. The data are NOT redacted or suppressed in secure report cards. Individual student information could be derived from these report cards. The data or information on these report cards should never be shared with the media or public – even after the embargo is lifted. Public report cards are okay to share.

5 Accountability Report Cards
Recurring theme: the importance of high quality data Choice indicator Economic status DPI can only correct data we have; we cannot create student records for report card calculations.

6 Accountability Report Cards
Four priority areas: achievement, growth, closing gaps, on-track -Score-based measures Three student engagement indicators, goal-based measures: -absenteeism (<13%) -dropout rate (<6%) School information Overall score and rating

7 Data Elements Student achievement -assessment results (point-based proficiency) -assessments: WKCE, Badger, Forward, ACT, WAA-SwD, DLM Growth (value-added) -change in assessment results over time -account for student demographics, prior test performance

8 Data Elements Closing gaps -trends of subgroup performance compared to the state -Subgroup Performance in closing ELA, mathematics, and graduation gaps On-track -attendance or graduation, -3rd grade English language arts -8th grade mathematics

9 Priority area scores → Overall score
Variable weighting for Achievement and Growth Weights evenly distribute for other priority areas Weighting assures fairness Having - or not having - data in all areas is neither advantage nor disadvantage FRL Achievement Growth < 5% 90% 10% 5% - 65% Varies 65% +

11 2015-16 Accountability Report Cards
Report card calculations require at least two years of data. Many choice school report cards do not have sufficient data to calculate an overall score. * Performance cannot be scored due to one of three data issues: insufficient choice enrollment data; fewer than 20 tested students; or submission of data for only one of the two years that are required to produce a score.

12 Looking Ahead Public release of report cards on Tuesday, November 21 WISEdata snapshot* on December 5th *Next year’s report cards will use these data!!!

13 Thank you!
