4 Assessments to take for postsecondary.
ASSET, Advising, Placement, and Retention System, designed to identify the basic skill levels of students as they enter a two year institution PSAT, Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test, a practice test that measures the critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills that students need to do college level work SAT, Scholastic Aptitude Test, a test that measures the critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and writing skills that students need to do college level work

All postsecondary schools require different requirements to attend. What is the number first thing you should after you have selected your college? Submit an official application EVERY school requires this

7 Community Colleges 2 year programs leading to certificates, diplomas, or associates degree, Robeson Community College and Sandhills Community College Degrees Associate’s degree Business Administration, Medical Office Technology Most people attend for this reason Certificate programs GED which is equivalent to HS diploma Other Interesting Facts Complete college transfer program Open door policy

College is not for everyone, however we all need a job so what do we do next?

10 Work-Based Learning Cooperative education, paid employment with an educational component provided in a supervised by school personnel Internships, observe and participate in activities related to a career field, paid or unpaid Apprenticeship, learns an occupation under the guidance and direction of a skilled worker 3-4 year training program Journey Worker, a certified, experienced, skilled craftsperson that has successfully competed an apprenticeship program On-the-job Training, education and training provided by an employer Job Shadowing, short term experience that allows a student to follow an experienced worker and see the day to day activities of a particular career

11 OR Be all you can be in…Military Training
Prepare to take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) Special skills may be developed through specialized education programs OR on-the-job training
