Form a group of four by joining with another pair of students. Send one group member to “three spectrums handout” and your eight feature cards. As a group discuss and place the features along spectrum A where your group thinks they belong. Follow teacher directions for forming the “human spectrums”. Day 3

The first people in India settled by the rivers. The Rivers Provided: Plenty of Water Fertile Soil on which to grow crops Used for travel and trade.

12 A small group of people has just migrated to India, crossing through the Khyber Pass. They are looking for a place to settle down and start a village. You are the scout who has gone ahead and identified some possible locations. Make your best pitch to the group about where would be the best place to live and why. Plan your presentation below. It should include • an introduction that clearly states the location you have chosen. • one to two sentences that give supporting evidence for your choice of location. • two to four sentences that explain why you did not select at least two other locations. Include supporting details that show why these locations are not good choices. • a one to two sentence conclusion that restates your position and reminds the group of your main points. • Quiz Grade
