4 Years of English 4 Years of Math 3 Years of Science 3 Years of Social Studies 1 Year of Physical Education .5 Credit of Comprehensive Health 1 Year of Fine Art or CTE 5.5 Elective credits 22 credits required for graduation

6 Your GPA – Figure It Out Step 1 – Assign a number to your letter grade A = 4 D = 1 (Ouch!) B = 3 F = 0 (Big Ouch!) C = 2 Step 2 – Add up the “Grade Points” Step 3 – Divide “Total Grade Points” by the number of classes taken. Your GPA is the number you get after you divide “Grade Points” by the number of classes you have taken.

8 Class Rank The student transcript reports both the weighted and unweighted cumulative grade point average. Class rank is based on the weighted cumulative grade point average. The total number of grade points earned in all courses taken is divided by the number of credits attempted. WHY SHOULD YOU TRY FOR A HIGH CLASS RANK AND GOOD GPA???? * SCHOLARSHIPS $$$$$$$$ * ADMISSION TO COLLEGE * PREPARED FOR COLLEGE CLASSES

9 University Requirements 16 Core Courses
4 credits of English 4 credits of math or through 4th year – one beyond Algebra II 3 credits of lab science (Ag Science 1 and 2 together equates to 1 lab science credit or 1 elective credit. Honors Science Research is not a lab science 2 credits of social studies 1 credit of fine art – art, music, drama or dance OR CTE – technology, family science, business 2 credits of the same foreign language

10 Things To Remember You have received a copy of your 2nd semester classes, final changes are due by December 1st. Grades start now! If you fail at semester, you will need to repeat the class for credit. Get to know your teachers and counselors, they will be able to help with your future! Make smart choices in all aspects of your life.
