2 Aims To offer support to you (parents/carers) in helping your child to achieve their potential in English To provide further information and guidance for parents regarding the June 2016 exam To answer any questions you may have

3 GCSE English Tuesday 7 June 2016
Reading Skills Exam Paper: I hour – 4 questions Writing Skills Exam Paper: I hour - 2 questions Tuesday 7 June 2016 In June 2016, the exams will be worth 60% of the GCSE; Controlled Assessments will be worth 40%

4 English Literature Unit 1 exam: Monday 23 May 2016 (2 hours) Unit 2 exam: Friday 27 May 2016 (2 hours) Students study 3 full texts: Of Mice and Men, Blood Brothers and A Christmas Carol or Lord of the Flies There are two papers, each paper is 2 hours. Students will answer for one hour on each of the texts They also have to write a comparative essay on two unseen poems The exams are ‘closed book’; this means no books can be taken into the exam. The students must be reading the set texts throughout the year
