3 English Language  80% Exam (June Y11)  Unit 2: description, narration, exposition (2hrs)  Unit 3: argumentation, persuasion and instruction (2hrs)  20% NEA (speaking and listening)  Individual researched presentation (June Y10)  Responding and interacting group discussion (Y11)

4 What will the exams be like?  Reading 50% - a range of linked reading texts, continuous and non-continuous, with different types of questions worth anything between 1-10 marks. In Unit 2 there will be a proofreading task.  Writing 50% - half the marks are awarded for SPPS  Unit 2: an editing task and then one written task from a choice of two  Unit 3: one argumentation task and one persuasion task (you won’t get a choice)

5 English Literature  75% Exam  Unit 1: ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ or ‘Of Mice and Men’ and comparison of two unseen poems (Jan Y11)  Unit 2: ‘Lord of the Flies’ or ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘The History Boys’ or ‘Blood Brothers’ (June Y11)  25% NEA  Shakespeare analysis (2hrs)  Comparison of two poems by Welsh poets (2hrs)
