2 What is a Resume? Did you know? A resume receives only 5 to 10 seconds of consideration before an employer decides to review it more thoroughly or reject it. A 1 page document used to help you get a job interview brief summary of a job seeker’s education, job history, and skills every resume should be unique Four clicks

3 Information on a Resume
Start your contact information at the top of your page. It creates a first impression, so make it stand out. Contact Information: List your name, address, phone number and address Brian J. Hero 130 Pickering Road Charlestown, Pennsylvania 19466 (610)

4 EDUCATION List schools you have attended, dates of graduation or expected dates, degrees received, major(s), and minor(s). Supply education information on your resume in reverse chronological order (most current information first). Related coursework: List any relevant courses you have completed. --This section is useful if you have little work experience or do not have a degree in your field of interest Two clicks

5 WORK EXPERIENCE & VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
List each in its own section List your work experience in reverse chronological order. Include the full name and location of each company you worked for, the dates of your employment, and a brief, results-oriented description of your duties. Your descriptions should emphasize your major responsibilities and any measurable accomplishments Four clicks

6 VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE Related Experience: List experience related to your field that is not part of a paid job --Volunteer work, and unpaid internships

Use present tense verbs to describe what you do in your current job; use past tense verbs to describe your responsibilities in previous jobs. Present: Schedule plant deliveries to tri-county area Three clicks Past: Developed inventory system for athletic apparel division

9 EXTRA-CURRICULAR EXPERIENCE
List your different activities. Can be in school and out of school. Put dates of when you have participated. If you are still participating put present. IE 2011-Present If you are an officer include that in the section. Bookstore (2011-Present) Treasurer 2011 Six- clicks

10 SKILLS AND ACADEMIC ACHEIVEMENTS
Special Skills—List abilities and skills that relate to the job you are seeking. Pack this section with job-related terms that describe expertise, technical knowledge, computer skills, bilingual skills, and certifications. Example: SUMMARY OF SKILLS Researcher adept at using online search engines, directories, and other online tools Certified user of Innovative Interfaces software Computer programs: Word, Excel, Access, Dream Weaver Honors and Awards: List any special achievements you have received. --Dean’s List 4 years --Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities --G.P.A. 3.8 One click
