6 So what has happened since our last NU TechNet event (14th June 2017)?
We have had a cross working group meeting on Wed 26th July. We have met with Holly Hudson (Internal Communications and Intranet Officer) on Thursday 12th October 2017. We discussed where we will host our webpage and the capabilities we will have.

7 Intranet will replace staff homepage

8 NU TechNet Webpage This is where we will host our webpage.
When you log in, the intranet page will open, replacing the staff homepage. There will be a news carousel to replace NU Connections. You may have noticed things being updated in the background such as P2P marketplace. A soft launch is happening in mid November with view to a full launch at end of January 2018. More importantly for us, the “Technician Commitment” at Newcastle University is going to be launched on 28th February 2018.

9 NU TechNet Webpage With this in mind we are going to start work on the webpage as soon as possible so we at least have a NU TechNet landing page to coincide with this launch date. We won’t have the finished article by then, but aim to have something substantial in place.

10 Key benefits of NU TechNet webpage on the new intranet staff homepage
Things like Yammer will be an app (plus many more apps) on the intranet staff homepage so those of you who haven’t signed up will find signing up more straightforward. You will be able to search for technical expertise, by putting in keywords in search field, such as staff name and technique. This is the feedback we got from previous TechNet meetings. The NU TechNet main page will have News section; links to sites such as Gatsby, professional registration, and the science council; Links to be able to access videos; Documents; and links to key contacts.

11 Feedback Thank you for all the post-it’s from the previous NU TechNet. We’ve had lots of great feedback and ideas for the webpage. We hope to show you in future events how your comments helped shape the page.

12 Feedback Now we call upon you once more………….. We need some great images to dress the pages of NU TechNet. We’re looking for action shots, instrument/equipment shots, and images that generally capture the day to day life of our technicians in all the areas of the University. Please send your images to: Rafiqul Hussain: Roy Lamb:
