Structural Classification of Joints
Fibrous Joints: Contains fibrous tissue “little or no movement” Fontanels or sutures in newborns skull Cartilaginous Joints: Unite two bones with cartilage Between long bones (epiphyseal plates) Synovial Joints: Free moving joints that contain synovial fluid (all joints have some type of fluid) Knee, elbow, etc.
