You are hoping on a boat from London to sail for Canada. What do you need to bring?
Families should take their:
Bedding
Blankets
Sheets, &c.
Pewter plates, or wooden plates
Knives and forks, and spoons
Metal cups and mugs
Tea kettles, and saucepans
Working tools, of all descriptions.
(A large tin can, or watering pot would be useful.)
If you are by yourself:
A bed or mattress
A metal plate, or wooden trencher
Some kind of metal cup or mug
Knife, fork, and spoon

Unemployment was high and work usually consisted of being a labourer
Tough winters, much colder than in England
Diseases spread much easier during these times  No medicine and knowledge that we have today
Women had an easier time because they could marry men who had already settled in Upper Canada
