Adult students who are enrolled in an Adult High School Program and complete the course credit requirements in effect for any Board recognized diploma, with the exception of Health and PE, at the time they first entered the ninth grade. The requirement for specific assessments may be waived if the assessments are no longer administered to students in Virginia public schools.

Earn 20 credits (English, Math, Science, History/Social Sciences, Electives)
Achieve passing score on a HSE (GED®)
Complete an education or training program; earn a Board-approved CTE credential such as an industry certification, (e.g., Career Readiness Certificate), a state licensure examination, a national occupational competency assessment, or the Virginia Workplace Readiness Skills Assessment.

Students must successfully demonstrate through applied performance 100 percent mastery of the 70 NEDP Generalized Competencies in the areas of reading, writing, math, science, geography, history, financial literacy, health literacy, cultural literacy, civic literacy, and 21st century workplace skills.
