Six Covers: 18” x 9.75” x 1/8” thick (469.9 x x 3.17 mm) aluminum 3 inhibits: Four T-handle quick-release pins with lanyards Velcro straps around Covers Velcro squares to Solar Panel

10 Fabrication Tasks AMSAT-NA makes Covering drawing
AMSAT-NA fabricates ground Covers and tether of quick release pins Energia fabricates flight Covers and tether of quick release pins AMSAT-NA adds velcro to Solar Panels Energia make and install these on Covers: Velcro squares for installation Velcro squares or straps for “stacking” the Covers as they are removed 2 long fabric straps (have loop at one end and velcro at the other end) 2 short fabric straps (have loop at both ends) Finger loops (at corners) Pouch or flap to store quick release pins If time permits, Energia ship Covers back to AMSAT-NA for vibration testing on spacecraft Otherwise, AMSAT-NA uses a different set of Covers without velcro for testing

11 Cover Procedure (IVA) Remove all or half of the 4 pins per each of 6 Covers. Place pins in respective Panel’s pouch or under flap. Exit through Hatch. (EVA) Remove remaining 2 pins per each of 6 Covers (if required). Place in respective Cover’s pouch or under flap. Remove long strap holding +Z Top Cover. Do not remove the 2 short straps which form hinge. Pull +Z Top Cover (additional velcro), rotate, and secure back-to-back against adjacent Side Cover. Remove long strap holding –Z Bottom Cover. Do not remove the 2 short straps which form hinge. Pull –Z Bottom Cover (additional velcro), rotate, and secure back-to-back against adjacent Side Cover. Release ends of straps holding Side Covers (the overlap is at corner –X –Y). Pull Side Cover (additional velcro), rotate and secure back-to-back against adjacent side Cover. Repeat step 9 for remaining side Covers.
