What is knowledge check? How does it help students? How does it help the faculty? KC – analyze the status of the class, what they know, what they don’t know, where to focus more Student – gain a better understanding of the expectations, what they are supposed to know, what they don’t know, what to do based on what they don’t know Faculty – determine how to help students learn better, determine if students are putting forth an effort to learn, and what student are doing to learn the concepts Copyright © 2013 by University of Phoenix. Knowledge Check for Students weekly quizzes with hints, rejoinders, text book sections Personal Study Guide submitting the quiz provides PSG grouped by concepts Faculty Dashboard preview class performance grouped by concept, individual effort and performance Note. Before using the Faculty Dashboard, we strongly encourage you to take the Knowledge Check, which is accessible from the Syllabus or Assignments page. Weekly Knowledge Check for Students A learning tool and formative assessment offering just-in-time hints, pop-up reference materials, instant answer explanations, and two answer attempts for each question. Personal Study Guide A results page residing on the materials page that surfaces when the TFA is completed and submitted. The PSG contains performance information on each concept covered in the TFA, answer selections made on each question (both attempts), correct answer explanations, and links to study materials. Faculty Dashboard Analytics reporting for faculty including granular TFA performance data is sorted by class and individual students, as well as student performance data, clustered into specific concepts. Best Practices Use Insights from Faculty Dashboard to: determine what students know and don’t know guide classroom discussions identify the most challenging concepts measure student performance recommend material when appropriate personalize the message with the recommended material access a time-saving, comprehensive view of student performance Emphasize use of Study Guide A personalized study guides generates after each Knowledge Check is submitted Students have access throughout the class Using Insights from Faculty Dashboard Understanding what students know and don’t know will help guide classroom discussions. If most/all students are struggling around specific concepts, be sure to focus on that in online discussions. Review student’s performance as soon as it’s available on the Faculty Dashboard and recommend material when appropriate. Use the opportunity to personalize the message with the recommended material. Time-saving, comprehensive view of student performance Emphasize use of Study Guide The Personal Study Guides are generated after each Knowledge Check is submitted. Students have persistent access to them through the end of the course, so we recommend you remind students to use them in preparation for the Final Examination/summative quiz.
