Identity Homework Booklet

2 Task One IDENTITY PROJECT:
It was an opportunity for perception and criticism of the time we live in. Dada ignored aesthetics. Dada intended to offend. Develop a double page of research relating to The dada movement Dada, Dadaist and Dadaism… Mount and present examples of artists work. Write down some key facts and features In your own words describe the movement and how it could link to identity. It rejected standards in art through anti- art cultural works. Born out born out of negative reaction to the horrors of World War One. Related Artists: Jean (Hans) Arp, Johannes Baader, Theo van Doesburg (Christian Emil Marie Küpper) with Kurt Schwitters, Marcel Duchamp, Max Ernst, El Lissitzky, Man Ray, Man Ray (Emmanuel Radnitzky), Francis Picabia, Kurt Schwitters, Kurt Schwitters, Theo van Doesburg (Christian Emil Marie Küpper) It was anti war and anti bourgeois.

3 Ideas for materials to use in your collage:
IDENTITY PROJECT: Task Two Collect materials that show your chosen thematic identity. You should be thinking about what item to bring in to add to your 3D construction (old shoe, shirt, personal belonging etc...) Create a DOUBLE PAGE collage in your book Glue materials down in a visually interesting way. Create an interesting design by overlapping media and imagery. Ideas for materials to use in your collage: Postcards, Tickets to remind you of journeys/ events, Words cut out of magazines/ collected from papers that remind you/your feelings/colours you like, Symbols/ logos of food/drink/clothes or other brands you use and buy, Numbers cut out of magazines that show your birth date/ house door, numbers of people in your family etc, Photos of your family- different ages/ times, Photos/ images of people you admire, Writing/ text containing quotes/ sayings by people you admire, Any other images/ materials you thin represent your identity, Pictures of clothes/shoes/possessions/objects you like/use, a photocopy of your school timetable, School badge…Any other ideas?

Include annotations describing your thoughts and linking the design to ‘Identity’. Complete your double page of design ideas started in class? Add a page of images to help develop your class piece .

USE A RANGE OF MEDIA ADD PHOTOS Produce a double page of observational media studies linked to your class piece. Add photos. Annotate linking to the theme of ‘Identity’ and describing your future plans. ANNOTATE

Have a look at the list of artists and suggested websites overleaf for inspiration Select an Artist that you can link to your classwork. Produce an in depth written study on a double page in your sketchbook. (Add photos of the artists work)

10 IDENTITY PROJECT: Task Seven ADD PHOTOS INCLUDE SKETCHES ANNOTATE
Produce a second double page evaluation of your work so far Add photos, annotate saying how you have made the work and what methods, materials and techniques you have used. 11 IDENTITY PROJECT: Task Eight
Complete a double page showing 2 views of your final design? Add images of your work in it’s current state of progress. The studies need to demonstrate what the eventual final piece will look like once completed. Annotate the pages and make them look exciting. Use colour media. Sustain the final studies. Glue in photos. Annotate linking to theme and discuss the methods and materials involved in your work.
