2 Issues and Problems in Physical and Health Education
The percentage of schools requiring physical education has decreased dramatically over the years. Physical activity levels decrease as children get older, leading to obesity. 75% of adolescents in grades 9-12 do not meet the national recommendations for daily physical activity. (Recommended to get a minimum of 60 minutes a day)

National Health Standards explain how to locate, evaluate, and use effectively what they need Anyone can post on the internet- BE AWARE Know the difference between accurate and inaccurate health and fitness information

4 Controversial Health Issues
These issues can cause the curriculum to be less effective: Human sexuality (guidance on sexual decisions vs. teaching abstinence) Rape Suicide Drugs Violence Refer students to reliable Internet sites or an app such as iTriage

Cardiorespiratory Endurance- ability to “keep going” during physical activity Muscular Endurance- continue without fatigue Muscular Strength- ability to exert force during physical activity Body Composition- amount of muscle, fat, bone, and other vital parts Flexibility- range of motion around a joint
