Non-Chronological Report Writing

2 Non –Chronological Reports
This term in English you have been learning about the different features of a Non-Chronological Report. Today you will be writing your very own Report as part of your End of Term 1 Assessment. Firstly you will look at some information that has been gathered by another Year 4 Class and plan your report by coming up with an appropriate heading and subheadings for your report.

3 Gathering Information
In Geography this term you have been learning about Russia. In front of you you have a list of some information that children in another Year 4 class have gathered about Russia. Task 1: Read through this information very carefully Using this information and what you know from your Geography lessons can you come up with a suitable title and a list of subtitles for your Non- Chronological Report? This will be your plan! You have 10 minutes for this task

4 Russia Facts that a Year 4 class have gathered: Official Name: Russian Federation Capital: Moscow Population: 142,470,272 People: Over 120 different ethnic groups Official Language: Russian Money: Ruble Major Mountain Ranges: Ural, Altay Major Rivers: Amur, Irtysh, Lena, Ob, Volga, Yenisey Rivers & Lakes: Some of the longest and most powerful rivers in the world – some of the largest lakes Size: Russia is the largest country in the world – 10% of the Earth’s land Area: 6,592,772 square miles (17,075,200 square kilometers) Landscapes: Changes throughout the country – desert, frozen coastlines, mountains, treeless plains. In Siberia mostly forests Traditions: Famous for art, ballet and famous composers.

5 Writing your Report Now use the plan that you have drafted to write your Non-Chronological Report. Remember all of the features that you have been learning about in class and try and include these in your report.
