We are beginning our first nine weeks of school. That means that we will soon begin making new friends and learning new concepts. Please make sure your child comes to school on time, well rested and on a full stomach. This will prepare the students for a full day of learning and fun!

Literacy Tip – Please make sure to read to your child each night. It is important that they read as well but it is also important they hear daily what a good reader sounds like when reading. They will begin to read in phrases when they hear you do it as well.

We are discovering strategies to help us solve addition and subtraction word problems.
We are learning about weather and scientific tools that are used to help accurately measure weather features.
We are learning about the writing process and the stages and steps that good writers follow .

Please remember on early release days, students dismiss at 11:35am. If your child is going home a different way on that day I need a note to be turned in that morning with your child.
Going Global:
Second grade will be learning about South America this year. We will start out focusing on Chile but we will also learn about other countries in South America as well.
