2 What is a Hologram?... It’s an object like any other object on the real world, except its entirely made of light. They can never be physically felt. Can be of 2dimension, like a piece of paper or a TV screen or 3dimension, like any object on real world

3 A new reality!... Real World Virtual world Mixed Reality

4 Mixed Reality!.. Merging of real and virtual worlds to create a new environments and visualisations where physical and digital object coexists and interact in real time

5 HMDs Short form of Head mounted Displays.
Basically a display device worn on head, with a small display optics in front of eyes. A typical HMD has one or two small displays, with lenses and semi-transparent mirrors embedded in eyeglasses (also termed data glasses), a visor.

6 Major Performance parameter of a HMDs
Some of the major Performance parameter of a HMD are; Ability to show stereoscopic imagery Interpupillary distance (IPD). Field of view (FOV) Resolution On-board processing and operating system.

7 Microsoft® HoloLens Microsoft® HoloLens is a pair of mixed reality head-mounted smartglasses developed and manufactured by Microsoft. Uses the concept of Mixed Reality. No tethers. No need of a cell phone, a laptop. All you need to interact with a fully built-in Windows 10 mobile computer is 'GGV‘. (gaze, gesture and voice)

8 Design Front is much of the sensors and related hardware, including the cameras and processors. The visor is tinted; enclosed in the visor piece is a pair of transparent combiner lenses, in which the projected images are displayed in the lower half

9 Features an inertial measurement unit (IMU).
Includes an accelerometer, gyroscope, and a magnetometer. Four "environment understanding" sensors. Provide the basis for head tracking A 2.4-megapixel photographic video camera

10 A four-microphone array, and an ambient light sensor
An energy efficient depth camera with a 120°×120° angle of view It serves two roles: It helps with hand tracking, and it also performs surface reconstruction, which is key to being able to place holograms on physical objects.

11 HoloLens is a pass-through device.
Unlike VR headsets, which produce visuals via OLED displays that are situated right in front of your eyes that you view through glass lenses, it uses different technique.

12 The components of the HoloLens’s optical system break down as follows:
Microdisplay → imaging optics → waveguide → combiner → gratings (that perform exit pupil expansion).

13 Applications… Remote Instructions
Imagine getting step-by-step instructions on things like home repair from an expert. Visual diagrams would actually show up in space around the user indicating exactly what you need to do next. This application could even extend to the battlefield, where detailed medical instructions could be given to untrained personnel in the midst of combat.

14 3D Computer Aided Design
Imagine building a 3D model of pretty much anything you can imagine in the physical space around you. It’s similar to what’s seen in the movie Iron Man as Tony Stark interacts with holographic objects to build his devices. It’s also one of the ideas that has captured the imagination of many when it comes to the HoloLens.

15 Gamification of Tasks By turning monotonous tasks into a game, HoloLens could make life much more exciting and help you build healthy, productive habits. .

16 Gaming The possibilities of using the HoloLens for gaming are fascinating. A fully immersive gaming experience is something gamers have been clamoring for quite some time. Imagine playing a game like Minecraft using holographic models in your living room. HoloLens promises to make that happen.

17 Holographic Attractions and Entertainment
Going to a haunted house during Halloween season is plenty fun, but if you wore a HoloLens, creepy attractions could become even scarier by integrating virtual elements that can’t exist in the real world. On a similar note, supporters of 3D movies have wanted to make the audience feel like part of the action for years. HoloLens could help them bring virtual elements into the space of the user.

18 Virtual Reality User Interfaces
Physical screens and monitors may eventually become things of the past, as we transition to interfaces that exploit physical intuitions about the world and naturally fill the space around you.

19 Heads Up GPS You could see instructions and diagrams laid out on the road in front of you, giving you unambiguous instructions about where to go next.

20 THANK YOU… 
