4 Responsibilities of the Recreation Leader
Make recreation part of your club meeting. Lead recreation when asked. Be prompt and enthusiastic. One of the jobs of the Recreation leader is to make recreation a part of each and every meeting. The Recreation leader should be prompt, ready and enthusiastic about the recreation activity when it is your turn to lead recreation when asked.

5 Guidelines for Recreation Leaders
Be familiar with the game you are leading. Prepare games that allow all ages to participate together. Select large group games that allow everyone to keep playing. Know if the location of the gathering will allow the game to be played safely in the area available. Provide proper equipment and supplies. Give clear directions. Be attentive and listen. The Recreation Leader should have the game or activity prepared ahead of time. When choosing a game or activity, make sure it’s a game where members of all ages can participate together. Select games that allow everyone to keep playing the game together instead of games that force people out. The more members can keep playing together, the more likely they are to build positive friendships and memories in the club. Know where the location of the meeting is to decide if the game can be played safely in the area available. For example, playing capture the flag inside the house, could lead to disaster (crash). A game of trivia might be more appropriate for playing inside. It is also important to have the proper equipment and supplies available. Plan your game and remember to bring everything you need. As recreation leader, be attentive and listen to your fellow members to make sure everyone understands and is enjoying the game.

6 Guidelines for Recreation Leaders
Speak clearly and loudly. Demonstrate how to do game. Accept ideas from others. Encourage everyone to participate. Establish a start and finish time signal. It is important to speak clearly and loudly so that everyone can hear and understand your directions. As recreation leader, you should demonstrate the game so that everyone understands the rules before starting to play. You also should listen to ideas offered from your fellow 4Hers. When appropriate, be accepting of these ideas, and adapt your game if needed. Finally, encourage everyone to participate, and establish a start and finish time for the activity.
