Basketball

Helllo, it’s me My name is Carly. I am coach on a basketball team. When I was young I was a basketball player. I started my career as a player when I was 12 years old. My career was very successful. My team was Olympiakos. Also, I was playing in the Greek National team. I know many things about basketball and its tactic and I want to share my knowledge on children who are interested on this sport. So I’m going to talk you about Basketball the sport!!!

Generally Basketball is a sport played by two teams of five players on a rectangular court and a ball. The objective of this sport is to shoot a ball through a hoop 46cm in diameter and 3.048m high mounted to a backboard. A successful shot is worth two points, or three points if it is taken from beyond the three-point arc 6.75 metres. A one-point shot can be earned when shooting from the foul line after a foul is made. Games are played in four quarters of 10 minutes. Teams exchange baskets for the second half. The time allowed is actual playing time. The clock is stopped while the play is not active. Games take much longer to complete than the allotted game time, usually about two hours.

A team On a game each team can have 12 players but can only five players of them may be on the court at one time. Teams also have a coach, who oversees the development and strategies of the team. Other team personnel are assistant coaches, managers, statisticians and doctors.

Brake the rules There are limits placed on the steps a player may take without dribbling, which commonly results in an infraction known as traveling. A player cannot stop dribble and then dribble again. A dribble with both hands isn’t allowed and called double dribble. A player can’t carry the ball by placing his hand on the bottom of the ball. A team, once having ball in control in the front half of their court, may not return the ball to the backcourt. A violation of these rules results in loss of possession. On a match a referee checks if a player break the rules.

As a coach.. Me as a coach I am very strict with my players. I like working with young children. To tell you the truth I prefer working with girls more than boys because I like watching girls doing something people think that only boys can do. So, I chose that job because I love basketball and I like working with children!!!
