How: The following slides will help explain how customers will direct-ship
their property to their Designated Disposition Services Site

3. Transportation Standard Transportation Options:
Customers located within 60 miles of a Field Activity or Field Site are responsible for taking their property to the site via their own conveyance or ship their property to the site using their unit-funded Transportation Account Code (TAC).
Customers 61 miles or greater from a their designated Field Activity or Site have the option of taking their property to their designated turn-in location or use Disposition Services’ Scheduler to arrange for property pick-up at your location at DLA’s expense.
NOTE: Although a full truck load (24 pallets) is encouraged before ordering a truck, on a case-by-case basis a less than truck load can be scheduled for those customers who have low volume turn ins. Customers will be responsible to ensure property is packaged for
safe transport i.e., triwalls, shrink-wrap, banded, palletized, etc.
*Calculations for distance requirements will be an automated process conducted through use of the Defense Table of Official Distances (DTOD) program. Mileage will be calculated from the Generating Activity pick-up location to the designated DLA Disposition Services Field Activity.

8. Additional Support Options
Receipt-In-Place (RIP): Customers with, or who want to pursue, Memorandums Of Understanding (MOU) will have the option of Receipt-In-Place for rolling stock, large scrap
& bulk items, etc.
HazWaste & HazMaterial: Existing hazardous waste and hazardous material support will not be affected
Surge: When forecasted and planned appropriately, resources will be deployed to conduct surge operations
Training: Disposal Service Representatives (DSRs) will provide all necessary transition assistance & training
Problem Resolution: Disposition Service Directorates (DSDs) and Area Managers will help
resolve transition related issues
Scrap: For sites maintaining scrap yards, the hours of operation may vary based on frequency of turn-ins and volume. Customers without access to a scrap site will direct-ship it to their designated Field Site or Activity.
