2 Do not copy the questions! That’s a waste of time!
Jumpstart #1A FIRST: Put the following papers into the “Due Now” basket. Make sure your name is printed on both so I can read whose it is! Syllabus Signature Page Safety Contract Signatures THEN: Take out your “Jumpstart Paper” and answer the following question in Box #1 Q: List some safe lab practices that you have learned about in past science classes. Bullet points are fine! Do not copy the questions! That’s a waste of time!

3 Syllabus Processing Page – pg. 2

4 “Oh, it’s probably just water.”
“OH MY GOSH! WHAT WAS THAT!?!?!?!

5 Lab Safety Contract/Notes – p.5
Pocket for safety contract Notes from safety video. Bullet points are fine Be detailed “Capture” all the important safety expectations!

6 Crash Course Notes – pg. 5

7 Lab Equipment Scavenger Hunt - p.4
Pocket for safety contract Notes from safety video. Bullet points are fine Be detailed “Capture” all the important safety expectations!

8 BLOCK DAY

9 Jumpstart #2A FIRST: Turn in any of the following to the bins on my lab desk: Syllabus Signature Page Safety Contract Signatures THEN: Take get your “Jumpstart Page” from Lab Bench #8 and answer the following question in Box #2 Q: Describe the difference between what goes on the left side pages and the right side pages in your interactive notebook (use the handouts in your notebook to help you  )

10 Finish Lab Equipment Scavenger Hunt – pg. 4

11 Safety Quiz 80% or more to do labs

12 Unit Intro Pages Set Up – pg. 14 and 15
Pocket for Quizzes taken during this chapter

13 START - Past Models of the Atom – pg. 17
Target: I can sort atomic models from least to most complex. K C Q

14 History of the Atomic Model – Video and Card Sorting Activity
Work with your group As we watch the video take notes on each person or type of model discussed – PAGE 17 I will pause the video and you will look through the cards to find all representations of the model the video just talked about – we will do ONE model at a time! Try to place your stacks in order from oldest to newest model – focus on what changes between each group to help you – simple to complex

15 History of the Atomic Model – Video Notes – p. 17

16 History of the Atomic Model – Drawing Models
Work with your lab group After viewing the atomic structure video and sorting the cards – discuss with your group which card of each model is the best. Or was there a version shown in the video that was better? Or can you draw your own version of each model that is better? Why are some versions of a model better than others? On page 16 – Draw your best representation of each of the main leaps in our understanding of what an atom looks like. Use color in your diagrams and you can label things if you want

17 Left vs. Right Processing – pg. 8

18 Friday

19 Jumpstart #3A Take out your “Jumpstart Paper” and answer the following question in Box #3 Q: What do you know about the structure of the atom? (big or small? Is it made of smaller parts? What can you do with atoms? Etc etc etc…)
