1 Monday, August 24 Today Complete AIMS post-test
Go to class webpage and copy weekly agenda, review the quiz retake policy, and look at Reference section table of contents to add to table of contents Complete multiple intelligences questionaire

2 Tuesday, August 25 Warm up: START A NEW PAPER
Remember, write the date, question and then the answer. If you get it wrong, cross it out and write the correct answer with (corrected) 8/25: If you are testing to see how the amount of force a ball is kicked with affects how far it flies, what are 3 controlled variables you would need?

3 Answer: Tuesday, August 25 Warm up: Same ball, same person kicking…

4 Reminder: -Picture day is tomorrow (6th hour)
-Homework tonight and tomorrow is to make flashcards of words on physics divider. Study these each night  -Binder check on Friday

5 Mission: We will be incredible science students.
What is motion and what can graphs tell us about motion? Today we will… -Graph distance vs. time data and interpret what the grade means Mission: We will be incredible science students.

6 Multiple Intelligences

7 Binder… PDSA Paper will go into the DATA FOLDER section (we will fill this out in a minute) Purple physics divider goes into the sheet protector and then behind all of the reference papers Physics table of contents paper goes behind physics divider

30 Wednesday, August 26 Warm up:
Remember, write the date, question and then the answer. If you get it wrong, cross it out and write the correct answer with (corrected) 8/26: What is the equation for speed? (use your physics reference paper for help)

31 Answer: Wednesday, August 26 Warm up: Speed = distance/time
Remember, write the date, question and then the answer. If you get it wrong, cross it out and write the correct answer with (corrected) 8/26: What is the equation for speed? (use your physics reference paper for help) Answer: Speed = distance/time

32 Reminder: -Picture day is today (6th hour) – DO NOT LOSE YOUR CARD (please!!) -Homework tonight is to make flashcards of words on physics divider. Study these each night  -Binder check on Friday

40 How do we calculate the average time?
Add up all 5 times and divide by 5 If you are using a phone calculator then make sure to hit = before dividing by 5 Check your work. Make sure your number makes sense. It should be BETWEEN the highest and lowest times

45 Graph: Title __________________________________________ Label each axis. The Y axis is distance (in feet) and the X axis is average time (in seconds). Plot the point for each runner and then draw in the line from the origin (time 0, distance 0). Use a different color of pencil for each runner and label each line with the runner’s name and speed.

50 Conclusion: Describe what the slope of the line on the distance vs time graph tells us about the speed. Why did we have 5 people time the runner and then average the times?

51 The steeper the slope, the greater the speed

52 Read pages 9-23 in textbook.

53 Thursday, August 27 Warm up: 8/27: Which student was
Remember, write the date, question and then the answer. If you get it wrong, cross it out and write the correct answer with (corrected) 8/27: Which student was slowest? How do you know?

54 Answer: Thursday, August 27 Warm up: Shelly – the slope
Remember, write the date, question and then the answer. If you get it wrong, cross it out and write the correct answer with (corrected) 8/27: Which student was slowest? How do you know? Answer: Shelly – the slope of her line is not as steep

55 Reminder: -Binder check tomorrow (organize tonight – use webpage if needed – I do still have pendulum lab report) -Study your vocabulary flashcards every night -There will be an exit ticket at the end of class today

56 Mission: We will be incredible science students.
What is motion and what can graphs tell us about motion? Today we will… -Determine how we identify when an object is in motion and interpret distance vs time graphs Mission: We will be incredible science students.

58 Project for this unit Details to follow
Do you want to choose your groups or have me assign them? Please start to think about who you can work with (2-4 people per group) Choose your groups wisely

59 Am I moving right now?

60 How do we know if something is moving?

61 Play with the ping pong ball.
Try to roll it down a ramp of books. Try to roll it up a ramp of books. Make it roll fast. Make it roll slowly.

62 How do you know when the ball is moving?
Does the ball move at different speeds? How do you know if it’s moving at different speeds? How do you change the speed that it’s rolling at?

69 How do we know if something is moving
How do we know if something is moving? Now, on the back and bottom of your purple divider, write a sentence that answers this question using these vocabulary words – position, reference point, motion, speed (and velocity if you want to)

Add to your table of contents Date Title Page # 8/25 Distance vs time graph investigation 1 8/27 Using graphs to calculate speed (I will give you all of this paper) 2

71 What is the equation for speed?
Speed = distance / time

78 On a distance vs time graph, a curved line means that the object is NOT moving at a constant speed (which means that it is accelerating).
