3 Summer Hiring Reminder
Summer has started We need your 2.9ths & MOUs Submit your hires! ACA student employee hours reminder: Campus recommends: 29 hour/week limit for Student help and Temp employees to meet staying under the federal law (which requires offering health insurance for full time employees: 30 hours/week or 130 hours/month) Statutorily UW does not have the ability to offer insurance to students (or TEs or Project staff if not under WRS). Compliance – must offer min coverage to at least 95% of employees working full time (30 hours/week). Estimated employer shared responsibility of penalty = $64.8 million

4 Instructional Staff Degree Information Process
As you hire IS (new) we will need the following information: The highest degree completed (BA/BS, MA/MS/MFA, PhD/EdD, etc) Area of Study Date of conferred/completed School attended/earned degree & location (state & country if not US) Submit in the comment box in JEMS Hire entry We will do semester audits approximately 3 weeks into each semester Process added to the HR section of the Business Office Website

5 Sexual Harassment and Violence Prevention Training
Required Training (online, other methods) UW System President and Board of Regents provided requirements and expectations July 2017 online training available Required of all UW-Madison employees or those that hold an appointment Will become a part of on-boarding Tracked, will need to complete refresher about every three years (tbd) Supplemental training for other groups (i.e. reporting obligations, responding obligations)

Performance Review Process Step 1 Manager initiates & completes performance appraisal Expectations Criteria for success Goals Step 5 Manager & Employee have opportunity to make any appropriate changes following discussion. Step 6 Manager approves document. Employee approves or doesn’t approve document. Step 4 Manager & Employee have evaluation discussion. Manager starting process = employee receives notice to start process Step 3 Manager & Employee SAVE their materials for the discussion meeting REVIEW IS COMPLETE! Step 2 Employee begins self-evaluation

Small work group in SoE to assist with implementation of the system Let teri know if you’re interested Once we have more complete look of the system (they’re still working through modifications) we’ll request a demo for interested folks Will provide training, walk throughs etc. I’m working with OHR designee for divisional prep currently

8 Principles of Management & Supervision Series (PSM revised)
Program has been revised and will launch in September 2017 fully (summer pilot) Overall goal: for managers & supervisors to be able to create & maintain a healthy, inclusive, and engaging work environment.
