2. Program Description
ARC started the apprenticeship programs in 1983 with two apprenticeship areas and 300 apprentices.
ARC’s Apprenticeship Programs now serve over 3500 unduplicated students in five apprenticeship areas and seven specific programs.
Apprenticeship programs can lead to an A.A. Degree
Apprenticeship programs are adding over 200 certificates per year to ARC’s certificate count.

3. Program -- Strengths
* Student Success: 200 certificates per year compared to under 100 previously.
* Degree Programs: more interest in apprenticeship degrees, with many apprentices pursuing them.
* Outreach: 14 apprenticeship partners connected with ARC's Pre-Apprenticeship program with direct entry into apprenticeship.
* Employment: We put folks to work.– earn while learning

4. Program -- Challenges
Organizational Effectiveness: to bring in new apprenticeship programs during economic downturns.
Access and Growth: to bring more diverse populations into the apprenticeship programs.
Program Growth: apprenticeship programs are funded by an outside source called RSI (Related Supplemental Instruction) which is determined by the state legislature on a yearly basis.

5. Planning Implications
Degree Programs - encourage more students to pursue general education classes to achieve their degrees in apprenticeship.
Outreach - align with the pre-apprenticeship community outreach to bring diverse populations into the apprenticeship programs.
New Apprenticeship Programs - bring in new apprenticeship programs and their inherent funding to help support ARC’s growth.
Addition of a permanent 20 hr. Clerk lll to track and process apprenticeship students to ensure that they meet required ARC classes for certificates and degrees (the increase in certificates is directly attributable to a temporary 110 day position).
