2 Police Evidence Welcome back everyone. I have some important new evidence for you to look at today, but first let me answer some of your questions from last session. 1. Maggie’s wheelchair Some of you asked about Maggie’s wheelchair. You wanted to know whether she could move around without being heard. My officers have investigated this for you and I can confirm that she can move about independently and completely silently.

3 2. The stripy cushions A few of you thought that the cushion Greg noticed which had fallen off the sofa might be an important clue in the case. My officers searched the whole sofa thoroughly. We looked down the back and sides but found nothing. A zip on one of the cushions was a little undone but the earrings were not inside. 3. The vase of flowers Lots of you thought the vase of flowers was a very important clue and you were absolutely right. Unfortunately my officers did not find the diamonds but they did find the stolen fuse – it was in the water at the bottom of the vase!

4 So what do we know? Someone deliberately removed the fuse to make the lights go off and stay off for a while Someone came onto the stage in the darkness and stole the earrings, leaving the box on the table Someone shone a torch from the right hand side for a few seconds. The beam shone across the sofa (Helen was still there) and the vase of flowers Someone crossed the stage, knocked off a cushion from the sofa and dropped the fuse into the flower vase, before leaving the stage again The emergency lights came on

5 New Evidence My officers have gone through the waste paper baskets and rubbish bins looking for clues. They were mostly full of coffee cups but hidden at the bottom were 3 torn pieces of yellow paper with some strange marks in black felt tip pen. At first I thought it was a message but now I’m not sure because I can’t read it. Please could you try to piece it together and attempt to work out what it says. I think it may be in a secret code! Your teacher will give you some photos of it
