2 We are going to play a game called Flower Power
This is a team game where you will race to build a flowering plant. The fastest team wins the game.

3 Your plant is made of 15 playing pieces
1 stem 1 tap root 1 flower 4 leaves 4 side roots 4 labels Work together in your team to cut out all your playing pieces

4 6 2 5 3 1 Tap root 4 Leaf Label Side root Flower stem
Each playing piece has a number associated with it. These are written on your reminder sheet. 6 Tap root 2 Leaf 4 Label 5 Side root 3 Flower You can collect playing pieces by rolling the matching number on the dice 1 stem

5 How to Play Share a dice between 2 teams
Each team should put their playing pieces to one side A player from each team rolls the dice to decide who starts – the highest number goes first A player from the starting team rolls the dice. If they roll a 6, they can pick up their tap root and put it in their playing space (to make the start of their plant). If they do not roll a 6 they cannot begin their flower yet. They pass the dice to the other team who roll and try to get a 6 to start in the same way.

6 The two teams take it in turns to roll the dice (with each player on the team taking a turn)
Once a team has a tap root, they can begin to add other parts to their plant as they roll the matching numbers, however they can only add a part which would be touching a part already laid e.g. the stem is touching the tap root so as soon as someone rolls a 1, you can add a stem. You could also add a side root each time someone rolls a 5. Once you have a stem in place you can add a leaf if you roll a 2 or the flower for a 3.

7 Adding Labels There are 4 labels to add to your flower. One describes the roots, one the stem, one the flower and one the leaves Each time you roll a 4 you can add a label to your plant if that part of the plant is finished. So, you can add the flower label once you have placed your flower and the stem label once you have placed your stem. But the leaf and the root labels can only be added once all 4 pieces are in place. Sometimes you will not be able to add anything to your plant, if so just pass the dice quickly to the other team. Remember you are racing all the other groups so the faster you pass the dice the better.

8 Once your plant is complete call out “Flower Power!”
The first team finished (with everything placed correctly) wins the game - so remember to read your labels carefully – they have to be in the right place!

9 Here are some quick reminders
You need a 6 to start – a tap root You can only add parts that will be touching the parts already laid You can only add labels to a finished section Once your plant is complete, shout out “Flower Power!” The first team finished with all the parts and labels correctly placed wins the game!

10 Good Luck Let’s play Flower Power!
