9 Multiply Integers with Same Signs
Find 7 × 9. 7 × 9 = 63 The integers have the same sign. The product is positive. Answer: 63 Example 3

10 Find 5 × 4. A. –20 B. –9 C. 9 D. 20 A B C D Example 3

11 Multiply Integers with Same Signs
Find –4 × (–8). –4 × (–8) = 32 The integers have the same sign. The product is positive. Answer: 32 Example 4

12 Find –2 × (–7). A. –14 B. –9 C. 9 D. 14 A B C D Example 4

13 Use Integers to Solve a Problem
ELEVATORS An elevator takes passengers from the ground floor of a shopping mall down to the underground parking garage. If it travels at a rate of 5 feet per second, where will it be in relation to the ground floor after 6 seconds? To find the location of the elevator after 6 seconds, you can multiply 6 by the amount of change per second, –5 feet. 6 × (–5) = –30 Answer: So, after 6 seconds, the elevator will be –30 feet from the ground floor or 30 feet below the shopping mall. Example 5

14 INVESTMENTS Mr. Green has invested in a stock whose price is decreasing at a rate of $3 per day. What will be the change in the price of the stock after 5 days? A. –$15 B. –$8 C. $8 D. $15 A B C D Example 5
