2 What is Stomach Cancer? Stomach cancer is cancer that occurs in the stomach. Another name for tummy cancer is gastric cancer. Cancer is a disease caused by an uncontrolled division of abnormal cells in a part of the body. Mutated Cell

3 Causes of Stomach Cancer
Risk can be raised by smoking, being overweight, Type-A blood, diet high in smoked, pickled, or salty foods, or certain genes. Cancer from other parts of the body can spread to the stomach, but is most commonly caused by cancer in the glandular cells in the stomach.

4 Symptoms of Stomach Cancer
Can have no symptoms, but people may experience: Gastrointestinal: dark stool from digested blood, indigestion, nausea, or vomiting blood Whole body: cancer-related fatigue or loss of appetite, Also common: abdominal fullness, difficulty swallowing, or weight loss

5 How to Treat Stomach Cancer
Treatment options include surgery, medications, radiation, and chemotherapy. Surgery-Removal of tumor, portion of stomach, or entire stomach. Medications-Such as trastuzumab, Imatinib, or Sunitinib. Radiations-High power beams, such as X-rays, to kill cancer cells. Chemotherapy-Drug treatment that uses chemicals to kill cancer cells.

6 Stats about Stomach Cancer
Age: Stomach cancer is found most often in people over age 55. Gender: The disease affects men twice as often as women. Race: Stomach cancer is more common in African Americans than in Caucasians. Region: This type of cancer is more common in some parts of the world, such as Japan, Korea, parts of Eastern Europe and Latin America. People in these areas eat many dried, smoked, salted, or pickled foods
