1 9th Nuclear Energy Conclave 27th October 17, New Delhi
Industry perspective and preparedness to meet capacity addition targets of Nuclear Power An address by: Mr. G.K. Pillai Managing Director & CEO Walchandnagar Industries Ltd

2 Stage 1 – Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR)
Basic Framework of the “Indian Nuclear Program” Stage 1 – Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor (PHWR) Stage 2 – Fast Breeder Reactor (FBR) Stage 3 – Thorium Based Systems A unique “Three – Stage Program” Sequential program based on closed fuel cycle Spent Fuel of one stage is re-processed to produce fuel for the next stage Manifold multiplication in the “Energy – Potential” of the Fuel Aimed at optimum utilization of the country’s nuclear resources India has ambitious nuclear power expansion plans to reach MW by the year 2032 by setting up nuclear reactors based on both indigenous technologies of PHWRs and FBRs and large size LWRs based on international co-operation.

18 Design & Engineering capabilities. . Walchand Technology Group
Electro-mechanical & Control System Design Heat Exchangers & Pressure Vessel Designs (Thermal & Mechanical) Design Code expertise: ASME(Section III {Nuclear},VIII (DIV I,II & III UHP Vessels) RCCM (French Code for Nuclear Equipment Grades Q1, Q2, Q3), EN,PD5500 ( European & British Codes) TEMA ( Heat Exchangers) Piping Stress analysis 3D drawings Design & Engineering of Electrical, Control & Instrumentation: Analysis of equipment & Structures using ANSYS software:

19 Steam Generators (SG) Apart from the existing qualified industry players we would expect NPCIL to broaden its vendor base WIL has already developed significant expertise towards Design and Mfg of Steam Generators As such WIL is fully geared up to take on the challenge of SG Mfg given an opportunity WIL is in a position to invest in augmentation of facilities – Deep Hole Drilling, Dust Free Halls, Furnaces, dedicated bay for SG Assembly, etc given visibility of orders

20 Separator Slide Further Vistas

21 Strategic Assets.. 56 acre land along waterfront at Dahej, Gujarat
Ideally suited for manufacture and logistics of heavy equipment (like equipments required for NPP)

23 MoU with Atomenergomash (AEM), Russia
WIL and Atomenergomash (a subsidiary of ROSATOM) had signed an MoU in 2011 for joint manufacture of NPP Equipment ROSATOM Overseas Services (RAOS) is a newly formed organization to deal with business development and contractual agreements for Russian designed NPPs on new sites as well as implementation of localization programme. RAOS invited WIL to Moscow on 31 May 2016 for discussions on co-operation for Russian NPPs and MOU is signed for co-operation and localization of equipment for Russian NPPs in India. Items for Kudankulam for which we see scope for mfg in India: a) Quick Boron Injection Tank b) ECCS First & Second stage accumulators c) Heat Exchangers of PHRS d) LP & HP reheaters (including supports and fixture) e) De-aerator tank

24 Separator Slide What Industry expects?

25 Major Issues which have a bearing on the efficacy
of the Nuclear Program in India 1 Timeline for NPP Projects – firm timeline to be defined to enable industry to plan in advance (long hiatus in order placement has hurt industry) 2 Crash the lead time for Bid to PO award cycle. Long lead times seriously hamper plans for execution on shop-floor 3 Assurance of continued business – rationale for investing in augmentation of facilities/manpower 4 Due weightage to be given to capabilities, reference list and past track record along with tenure of partnership with DAE/NPCIL 5 Payment terms to enable vendors to stay cash positive – both w.r.t. advance payments and lead time for release of payments against invoices 6 Measures like real time claim settlement in case of change in scope, waiver of LD in case project schedules are not impacted 7 Speedy drawing approvals, adequate residential QS coverage, simplification of purchase procedures

26 Nuclear Power Plant Equipment manufacturing in India
has been a stellar example of “PPP” We genuinely hope the process strengthens further
