The key to the role of these World cities is that they do not exist in isolation but are linked and connected to other cities in the World.
The connections between these cities hold the global economy together.
People living outside the cities depend on them for certain goods and services and are connected to the city.
Perhaps we should now think of the world as a ‘global city’ and not just a global village.
