2 The Danish Coordinated Admission
The main purpose of KOT is to coordinate the admission to higher education to make sure, that any applicant can apply for admission to up to 8 programmes, but will receive only one offer for a study place - at the highest possible priority. 2017: 34 higher educational institutions More than 880 education programmes: University bachelor programmes, professional bachelor programmes and academy profession programmes (full time). 3 Education institutions
Applicants 1. All applicants must apply at optagelse.dk Optagelse.dk Education institutions KOT 2. The Education institutions retrieves the applications from Optagelse.dk 3. KOT retrieves priority lists from Optagelse.dk 4. KOT receives a prioritized list of applicants and the number of study places from the education institutions 5. The education institutions receives the result of the coordination from KOT 6. The applicants receives the answer from the educational institution where they can be offered a study place 7. 4 Limitation of double degrees
The Danish Coordinated Admission Applicants who have already completed a higher education programme in Denmark can only be admitted to a new higher education programme on a higher level than the one already completed. E.g. an applicant with a completed bachelor can not be admitted to a new bachelor programme Exemptions: If your first education is more than 6 years old If you not able to work in your first field of education due to health issues If your education is outdated If you want to apply for a specific programme with particular labour market needs – “The positive list” Stockholm, – Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education

5 Decrease of study places at programmes taught in English
The Danish Coordinated Admission Due to the labour market circumstances and the fact that many foreign students are returning to their home countries after completing a full programme in Denmark the study places at English taught programmes was decreased by 25 percent in 2017. The decrease only applied for professional bachelor degrees and academy profession programmes. Stockholm, – Danish Agency for Science and Higher Education

6 Future challenges The Danish Coordinated Admission Implications of a reform of the Danish upper secondary school system. The GPA will potentially be changed if you do a supplementary course needed for higher education.
