9 Style Photojournalism- actually events and people in their natural setting, generally not staged Portrays culture in a realistic and colorful way

10 Photography Doors (taken in Cambodia)
A rustic and antique feel is portrayed along with the sense of awe of architectural remain Doors (taken in Cambodia) Outdoor lighting at a height and angle to create a surreal effect Center of Focus in the upper mid section where the arch is Uses lighting, informal symmetry and leading lines along the brick walls and fragments This is special in comparison to others because of the use of lighting and leading lines making the ruins look more like a painting than a real life photograph.

11 Photography Latin America (taken in La Esperanza, Columbia)
Lighting coming from an open exterior window Focus is on the father holding his son Uses hammock leading lines and informal balance due to posters and weight distribution on hammock This demonstrates his visitation and documentation of happy but poor family, showing that not everyone hates their life if they don’t live in America. Portrays how little this family has but their joy in the company of one another

12 Photography Clarity and Contrast (taken in Yanesha, Peru)
Outdoor lighting accentuating his tears Center of Focus is the weapon to this toddlers head Leading lines- the way the gun points Symmetrical face of the boy This picture stood out to me because of how sad and extreme this is and how young that boy is. Portraying the poverty, filth and emotional state of poor Persian children

13 Photography Yemen (taken in Wadi Hadhramaut, Yemen)
Portraying the lifestyle of workers in Yemen of whom must be women because they are completely covered- difference in culture) Chosen to show a major cultural variation of which Mr. McCurry captures. Outdoor lighting in the field where they work Center of Focus on the workers or more specifically their hats Horizon line and distance provoked selective focus

14 Photography Afghan Girl “The First World’s Third World Mona Lisa”
Bright, even, outdoor lighting and bright cultural colors 1984 at Nasir Bagh refugee camp Subject is the woman and her eyes seem to be the center of focus Somewhat symmetrical and selective focus so the girl stands out more I chose this photo because it is his most famous and has won many awards. Portraying her cultural colors and the intense, strong but fearful look in the Afghan girl’s eyes
